Power

What is the most powerful thing you’ve ever done?

Walked on the moon? Cured Cancer? Cured the Coronavirus? (Still waiting.)

No matter what any man has done, nothing compares to the power of what Jesus did on the cross. (And on the third day after the cross.)

After Jesus bore the weight of sin and death and paid the full penalty for our sin, He’d accomplished everything He came to do. Thus, Jesus cried out for all to hear:

“Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit!”

Luke 23:46

No One Took Jesus’ Life

One of Jesus’ own disciples, Judas, betrayed Jesus to the Jewish leaders.

The leaders demanded Pilate crucify Him.

Pilate ordered His death.

And the Roman guards nailed Him to the cross.

But no one took Jesus’ life. He gave it.

That’s power!

Jesus chose the exact moment when He would die.

After declaring, “It is finished,” Jesus prayed, “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.” Then He bowed His head and gave up His life.

If death had simply caught up with Jesus, His spirit would have left His body and then His head would have fallen forward. But Jesus controlled His own death.

He bowed His head first and then gave up His spirit.

That’s power. Divine power to control all, including death.

What Do Jesus’ Words Speak to Us Today?

Jesus’ words and actions declare He is a God we can trust.

Just as Jesus chose the moment He would die, He chose the moment He would rise again. Divine power.

Is there anything you’re facing that is too difficult for His power?

Absolutely not.

It may be too difficult for your power, but not His.

You Can Trust Him. Will You?

True, He’ll let you go through trials. Severe trials even. Ones that seem to make no sense, but that’s only because we can’t see the end from the beginning like He can.

We don’t need to see the future to trust Him for today.

We’ve seen the past and the power He’s held since He laid the foundations of the world in place. His power has never changed. It’s never diminished.

We can trust Him. He has perfect purposes for all He does.

Crucifixion Friday looked dark and hopeless. But the Son rose on Resurrection Sunday and shines forever.

Walk in the power of His might and do not fear.

Trust Him today. He paid for your sins. Why would you reject His salvation and require of yourself that you pay for your own sins? Don’t let another day go by before you bow in full surrender to the Living One.

Commit your spirit into Jesus’ powerful hands.

“I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”
