Few things rival Christmas surprises.
One year my dad and brother wove string throughout my sister’s and my room. So much string filled our room that we couldn’t even rise up in our beds.
Finally, we decided it was time for us to do some surprising of our own.
Payback is sweet!
My sister and I hid alarm clocks around the house, set to go off throughout Christmas morning. When our parents found an alarm clock, they had to follow the string which was tied to it to find another Christmas gift.
Another year, we woke our parents with the Hallelujah Chorus turned up to full blast.
I can only imagine the shock they felt being ripped out of their peaceful sleep by the Hallelujah Chorus booming in their room.
It wasn’t our wisest surprise — giving our parents heart attacks would’ve ruined the day — but it was funny!
Our parents never expected the surprises we gave them.
These Christmas shoppers weren’t expecting the surprise they got either in the middle of the food court:
God had proclaimed to Adam and Eve that Christ would come, and He reminded His people of His Promise continually, but Christ’s arrival still came as a surprise.
Christ is coming again in much the same way — when we least expect it.
This Christmas, don’t just celebrate the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ.
Make this the best Christmas yoh’be had by accepting Him as your Savior, following Him as your Lord, and looking forward to His return.
Merry Christmas!
