There’s just something about getting away from it all with my family and being refreshed in the Lord.
One of our personal favorite places to do this is in the mountains of North Carolina. I‘m back from our refreshing and relaxing vacation in the NC mountains!
Well, I’m back!
Did you miss me?
My family and I took off for the mountains and away from email, the internet, and cell phones — basically everything that could connect me to the outside world — except the World Cup. We couldn’t miss the World Cup!
We found a wonderful restaurant nestled in the hills of Sapphire, NC in which to plop down in front of their big-screen TV. For over two hours Argentina and Belgium played while I devoured bruschetta pizza and some of the best cream of broccoli soup I’ve tasted. Thanks Sapphire Mountain Brewing Company!
After the game, we continued past Cashiers to a secluded home deep in the mountains where the rest of the world could be forgotten, and we could reconnect with our extended family.
Hiking, family flag football, dominoes, cards, afternoon naps, and so much reading.
Oh, and gourmet meals I didn’t have to cook, all while hanging out with some of the best people on earth!
Sounds too good to be true, but it was.
There is something uniquely refreshing about getting away from “the real world” and just being with family out in nature.
Every morning Larry and I welcomed the morning, sitting on the front porch with our cups of coffee. We had to wrap up in blankets from the crisp, cool morning air — in July! As we listened to the myriad of nature sounds, we felt blessed, like trees planted by springs of water.
It was hard to leave, but I’m back!
Now that I’m back, I’ll be working on my final post(s?) on The Red Thread in Noah’s Ark, more Today’s Bible Study Tips, and of course my weekly Monday Music.
I’m also going to share some of the many lessons God’s been teaching me over the past few months — lessons like the one I wrote about in my recent article: Want More Control in Your Life? Try the Moses and Morton Salt Method.
I hope each of you has a chance to get away this summer, disconnect from the world, and refresh yourself in the Lord with your family!
I did, but now I’ve got to get back to work, and I’m excited about what’s coming.
If you’ve had a special time of refreshment or adventure, I’d love to hear about it. Leave a comment in the comment section, please.
