When the Day You’ve Waited For Finally Comes — And For Those Still Waiting

Waiting. Ugh!

My son waited 598 agonizingly long days after he proposed for the day he’d hear his bride say, “I do.”

After 14,352 crawling hours, 861,120 creeping minutes, 51,667,200 seemingly never-ending seconds, the day finally came!

(I wrote about this one year ago. Similar, but different.)

When the day you’ve waited for finally comes, everything in you rejoices.

But until that day, we wait.

The Agony of The Wait

Days crawl by like sludge when you’re waiting.

What will the CAT scan reveal?

Will my dad ever win his battle with alcohol?

Where will I get the money to pay the rent this month?

Waiting is hard.

It’s not easy for the bride or groom to wait for their wedding day.

But when the day we’ve waited for finally comes —

the wedding music begins,

the CAT scan is clear,

our dad stays sober,

and we have enough money for rent, food, and even a birthday gift for our child —

we celebrate like we’re living the fairy tale.

Ah, the Fairy Tale

Who doesn’t long for a fairy tale life?

But, then again. Think about it.

What are we really asking for when we long for a fairy tale life?

In every fairy tale I’ve read, the hero faces some humongous, almost insurmountable, struggle.

Yikes. Maybe we don’t really want the fairy tale after all.

But, actually, we do!

We want it because of the fantastic ending.

Wouldn’t you love to have been Shadrach, Meshach or Abendego walking around in the fiery furnace with Christ?

Fire rages around us, but we’re not getting torched.

We stroll out of the furnace without even the smell of smoke on us because we’ve just been with Jesus.

One of the coolest story ever. And it wasn’t a fairy tale. It happened.

Jesus saved them by grace through their faith.

And Daniel really did walk out of the lion’s den unscathed.

Not only did the lions not slice and dice Daniel, they didn’t even touch him.

Good kitty.

Jesus saved Daniel by grace through his faith.

I hope my son and his bride do live a fairy tale life like Daniel, his fiery friends, and countless others who’ve trusted Christ.

I hope their faith grows every day, and they live a life of seeing God work in miraculous ways.

They already seen Him do wonderful things this year.

And while we’re all waiting for Christ to return, I hope we all live a great adventure with God.

Come, Lord Jesus

One day, all our waiting will be over.

“He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen.
Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
~ Revelation 22:20, KJV

In celebration of Bobby and Kaitlyn’s One Year Anniversary today, I’m sharing the song “Even So Come” by Kristian Stanfill, just like I shared last year. Enjoy!

And check out my other posts on Waiting and Celebrating at the bottom of this post. Thanks.
