We Will Not, Must Not, Forget our Heroes

My son Bobby met a war hero.

We will not forget. We must not forget.

Bobby held this hero’s medal and spent almost an hour talking with a man who’d fought on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day and at the Battle of the Bulge.

He told of working his way off the front of the landing craft and through the surf as the Germans shattered his fellow soldiers behind him.

And he talked of being shot seven times — three times on D-Day and four in the Battle of the Bulge.

We will not forget. We must not forget.

“I’d do it all again.”

During the Battle of the Bulge, enemy fire had left a gaping hole in his leg, so he hunkered down in a foxhole with a friend.

The searing pain of fire ants gnawing into his wound urged him back out only to be shot again.

A bullet ricocheted off a bone in his arm and struck his head.

His friend took a shot directly to the head and miraculously survived.

These two soldiers fought together for each other, for their country, and for freedom.

We will not forget. We must not forget.

I asked Bobby what stood out in his mind from his time meeting this great man.

He told me he’ll never forget the man’s refusal to see himself as a hero. But most of all, he’ll never forget when he said, “I’d do it all again.”

We will not forget. We must not forget.

Pearl Harbor Survivor Al Rodrigues

God Bless Al Rodrigues Pearl Harbor Survivor

In the summer of 2015, Larry and I had the distinct honor to meet Al Rodrigues, another WWII hero.

Al Rodrigues survived Pearl Harbor. (Click on the link or photo to read about it.)

Imagine the horrors he endured. Surely he’d want to forget them and leave it in the past. And yet, Al chooses to remember.

And he chooses to come to Pearl Harbor and meet with visitors because Al agrees:

We will not forget. We must not forget.

Two Powerful Videos

Watch this incredible music video We Will Not Forget by Mark Harris.

The footage is amazing. And what a message.

Then watch the equally amazing interview with actor Jim Caviezel, who portrayed Jesus Christ in the movie The Passion of the Christ.

You’re gonna need a large cup of coffee and some time for Jim Caviezel’s interview, but you’ll be glad you did.

The music video is short but powerful.

While you’re watching, pray.

Pray for our soldiers who are serving today.

Thank God for all those who bought our freedom with their lives.

Thank Him for the countless others who’ve fought for freedom since.

And thank Him, most of all, for His Son Jesus Christ, who bought our eternal freedom with His blood.

Jim Caviezel Describes Portraying Jesus, the Greatest Hero

Jim Caviezel isn’t a war hero.

He never served on any battle lines.

But he did take on the role of the greatest hero ever to live or die — and live again.

Jim played the part of Jesus in the movie The Passion of the Christ.

Listen to Jim describe the deeply moving experience of portraying Christ as He took on the sins of the whole world.

In the lashing scene, one of the Roman soldier actors actually slashed his side.

When they hung Jim on the cross, his shoulder separated. He left it that way.

On the final day of the shoot, lightning struck him as he hung on the cross.

Jim shares much more than movie memories.

He delivers a powerful message we all need to hear about freedom.

Freedom isn’t free. It was bought by blood — priceless blood.

Freedom exists not to do what you like but having the right to do what you ought. #FourthofJuly Click To Tweet

Reality Sunk In. Jesus was Gone. He is Risen! Just as He Said.

He is Risen Just as He Said! (Music Video Arise My Love by Newsong) via www.JeanWilund.com

“It is finished,” He’d cried.

Then He lowered His head

and gave up His Spirit.

Jesus’ followers watched

as darkness descended.

Reality sunk in.

Jesus was gone.

They laid Him in a tomb.

A stone sealed away hope.

Reality sunk in.

Jesus was gone.

The disciples mourned.

One day.

The world slept.

Two days.

Reality sunk in.

Jesus was gone.

Three days.

The earth shook.

The stone rolled away.

The Truth was revealed.

Jesus was gone.

Then his disciples remembered.

And reality sunk in.

Sin had lost its power.

Death had lost its sting.

Hell had been defeated.

He is risen!

Just as He said.

“Why do you seek the living One among the dead? He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered His words.”
Luke 24:5-8

He is Risen Just as He Said! (Music Video Arise My Love by Newsong) via www.JeanWilund.comJesus’s disciples had known the truth. He’d told them He’d rise from the dead.

But the facts that faced them proved He’d been wrong. Jesus was gone.

Dead and gone.

But after He rose again, they remembered. Jesus is sovereign over all—even facts

Just as He’d said He would do, Jesus conquered sin and death and rose from the grave.

No matter your circumstances or feelings, remember the truth. Remember Jesus’ wordseven when everything inside you screams otherwise.

Jesus has never let you down. He won’t start now.

He is faithful. Just as He said.

Trust and believe!

Open the Clouds and Let the Dancing Begin!

Open the Clouds & let the dancing begin! (awesome music video by Unspoken) I Thessalonians 4:17 via JeanWilund.com

Ever just felt like dancing?

It’s a daily occurrence for me, but especially after facing a storm. Not necessarily right after, but soon after. It releases stress and makes my heart soar free.

I think we could use some dancing right now.

We just faced a huge storm with Hurricane Matthew. He wreaked havoc in a lot of places. In some places, carnage.

The aftermath will take time and work to overcome, but for the next minute, I think we should stop, praise God that He’s in our midst, and dance.

Let’s dance like the clouds just opened and Christ returned.

I’ll probably want to dance while I’m flying up to meet Him.

Imagine the amazingness of that moment.

Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
~ 1 Thessalonians 4:17

Open the clouds, and let the dancing begin!

Unspoken’s music video is contagious. I dare you to watch and not move your feet.

Don’t fight it. Go ahead. Get up and dance. I am.
