I confess the title may be a bit confusing.

CS Lewis never talked about stubbing toes. At least I don’t think he did.

But he did say, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”

Naturally, CS Lewis’ words reminded me of stubbing my toes in the dark. (You’re tracking with me, right?)

Left to myself, it’s easy for me to view life and situations darkly, which usually goes as well for me as does stumbling around my house at night.

I’ve broken my baby toe at least four times stumbling around without the light on, thus fulfilling the purpose of toes — to find furniture in the dark, according to comedian Mark Lowry.

Fortunately, when I choose to see situations through Christ, I see the light and hope that He brings into each moment and situation.

Christianity gives us clear vision.

As the sun reveals what the night shades, Christianity gives us light to see truth clearly.

Obviously I’m talking about Christianity as Christ established it, not as we humans too often live it out — especially when we find furniture in the dark with our toes.

Divine illumination is good. It saves a lot more than just toes.

How will you view your life and situations today? Through Christ or by stumbling around in the dark?
