Glorify Your Name!
Father, glorify!

As John Piper has said, “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.”

How do we do that?

How do we become most satisfied in Him?

God teaches us through His purifying process — with His holy fire.

Are you in the midst of a holy fire, otherwise known as a trial?

Don’t look past the trial to find God on the other side of it. Look in the trial. He’s in it.

Jesus, purify!

God has called you to this trial, and He will not leave you alone in it.

“In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” ~ I Peter 1:6-7

Jesus, purify!

Remember, God only gives us what is necessary. If you’re in a trial, it’s necessary.

Knowing your trial is necessary, doesn’t necessarily make it easy.

Some trials are beyond difficult. But that doesn’t change the facts.

If we rejoice in our trials, it will result in the strengthening of our faith which will bring much praise, glory, and honor to Jesus Christ.

That’s what it’s all about!

Listen to the words of this great song Glorify, written by my beautiful and talented friend Linda Barnhill and powerfully sung by the equally beautiful Crystal Lewis

Father, glorify!

Jesus, light the flame!

We see the beauty of God’s ways when the flame of passion for His Name is lit within us, and we find ourselves content — even in the midst of our worst trials. (Philippians 4:4-13)

Only God can do such a thing within us.

Our natural selves see only two options: flight or fight.

God provides a third: rest.

Rest in Christ today and see what God will do.

Father, glorify!

Glorify Your Name. Raise the banner. Raise it high. Father, glorify.

Jesus, light the flame. Give us passion for your Name. Jesus, light the flame

Purify Your bride. Cleanse her with Your holy fire. Jesus, purify.

How have you seen God glorify His name recently? I’d love to hear from you in the comment section.

  1. Linda Barnhill says:

    Jean –
How sweet of you to feature this song on your blog. It still amazes me that God invites ordinary people like you and me to be part of what He is doing. He doesn’t need us but He wants us to join Him. He took this simple cry of my heart and blessed so many. We give our tiny offerings and He makes them all He wants them to be.

He is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him. Sometimes it means we get stripped of all the things we substitute for Him. Sometimes our eyes are opened to the gifts He gives us every day and we live gratefully.

I don’t want to lose the passion of the fire He lights; I don’t want to stop being purified. I want my prayer and cry to continue to be that He will glorify His name in all creation.
Thanks, friend – keep singing and sharing music!

    • I’m speechless!! — and you know that doesn’t happen much! What beautiful words of encouragement and truth. It’s easy to see the heart that wrote such a glorifying song.

I told you earlier that one of the most incredible moments of worship I’ve ever experienced was when you and Nicole Odom sang this song on stage at our church’s celebration time. I felt like I had entered heaven and stood before the throne of God. It was hard to imagine Him ever being more glorified than He had been as you two sang and the band played. Powerful is an understatement.

I pray this song continues to bless countless others for years and years to come — until the Lord returns and then even in heaven. 🙂

      Love you dear friend!!
      Jean

Love Crystal Lewis and am amazed to hear her voice again. I remember the late Pastor Chuck Smith say he was amazed that such a little girl had such a big vocie. Blessings, Jan

    • I’m so glad you enjoyed this, Jan!

Look forward to another one of her songs soon — which was also written by my friend Linda Barnhill. My husband says that “Glorify” is one of his all-time favorite worship songs — mine too! Pastor Smith is right!! Crystal’s voice is amazing!

Thanks for leaving a comment. It always encourages me so much!
