And All The People Said Amen! (Matt Maher)

When the Bible says “Amen,” it’s not really the same as when we say it today.

In the Bible, the word “amen” actually carries the meaning of truth, so be it, faithful, and verily

When we say it, it mostly means “The End” or “I’m done now.”

If the Bible said “Amen” like we do, verses would take on a whole new meaning.

The phrase “the God of amen” in Isaiah 65:16 wouldn’t be translated, “The God of truth,” but rather, “The God of I’m done now.”

I’m glad God’s not done with us.

He ought to be done with us — we deserve for Him to be done with us — but He’s not.

And all the people said AMEN!

I like how the Bible uses the word amen better than how we use it.

Instead of saying, “In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen” maybe we should start saying, “In Jesus’s Name I pray, Truth!” or “In Jesus’ Name I pray, So Be It!”

I realize the power in my prayer better when I remember that ending with “Amen,” isn’t the end of my prayer.

Ending with “Amen” keeps my eyes on the “Truth” as I go through the day having entrusted my prayers to the God of Amen — the God of Truth.

Truth is what we need in order to face what we must face.

Truth changes our perspective.

We may still have cancer, but we’re no longer at cancer’s mercy.

And all the people said AMEN!

The truth for believers is that we’re never at the mercy of cancer or anything.

We’re always at the mercy of our exceedingly merciful Father.

And all the people said AMEN!

The truth for non-believers is that God is using your cancer to draw you to Himself.

He uses everything that touches your life to draw you to Himself and to Christ because He loves you, and there’s only one way to Him — through His Son Jesus Christ.

And all the people said AMEN!

No one can explain all God does, nor do we need to be able to explain it all.

We just need to trust in and follow Christ, and share the Truth that is able to change our hurting world.

Is your life hard right now? Has it been hard for a long time?

I’m not going to tell you to suck it up and deal with it.

I’m not going to tell you to put on a happy face and “praise Jesus.”

But I am going to tell you to keep your eyes on the One Who knows the full truth — the amen — of your situation.

God is the “God of Amen.” (Isaiah 65:16), and He will not fail you.

His grace is sufficient for you to face anything and everything.

And all the people said AMEN!

“For all the promises of God in Him are yea,
and in Him Amen,
unto the glory of God by us.”
~ 2 Corinthians 1:20

“Behold, He is coming with the clouds,
and every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him,
and all tribes of the earth will wail
on account of him.
Even so. Amen.”
~ Revelation 1:7

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
be with you all.
~ Revelation 22:21

Now let me hear an “Amen” from you. Send me a quick “Amen” in the comment section. Let’s see how many “Amen’s” we can get.
