Terror rocked me as I heard the news of the brutal attacks in Paris.

No one can sufficiently describe the loathsomeness and sheer evil of those who would attack defenseless spectators.

Someone asked me recently, “What makes you angry?”

Pictures from Paris popped into my mind.

It’s likely we’ll begin to see more of these senseless attacks.

“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me.

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.

But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
~ John 16:33 NLT

How do we face these horrors and still experience peace?

There’s only one way.

In Christ alone, our hope is found.

The song In Christ Alone offers the truth we need to remember.

Lauren Daigle’s acoustic rendition is not only beautiful, but it also allows us to truly focus on the words — the truth of the words.

If we’ll understand and absorb these truths, we’ll be greatly encouraged, even in the face of horror.

Has your world been rocked?

Christ is our solid ground. He frees us from fear as we fully lean on and rest in Him.

He gives us His power to walk through any storm.

Just because we don’t understand why He’s allowed, or done, what He has, doesn’t mean we can’t fully trust and peacefully rest in Him.

Do you feel like life is harder than it should be?

Heaven’s not here. You figured that out by now, right?

But Christ’s Spirit is here.

He’s with you and in you, if you’ve trusted in Him.

His Spirit gives us the power and peace we need to walk through anything.

And He never condemns us.

If you belong to Christ and feel guilt or shame being put on you, it’s not Christ doing that.

He’s given His righteousness to all who belong to Him. He’s declared us not guilty.

We will have trials and sorrows in this world, but Christ hasn’t abandoned His throne.

Cease striving and know that He is God.

From life’s first cry to its final breath, Jesus commands our destiny.

In Christ alone our hope is secure.

If you’ve trusted in Christ, walk free in His power today. Don’t let guilt, shame, fear or sorrows keep you from experiencing the peace Christ has given you. (John 14:27)

If you’ve never trusted in Christ, today is the day. (Romans 10:8-11)

No other, but Christ, has the power to save. (Acts 4:12)

No other could save themselves in death, and they can’t save you either.

Only Christ has the power to rise from the dead. (Luke 24)

He’s alive today. Trust in Him.
