Canadian-born Celine Dion proves you don’t have to be from America to love our land, our country, or our people — or to honor it. 

Celine sang God Bless America! on September 21, 2001, to honor all those lost in the attacks of 9/11.

God Bless America was first introduced to the world by Kate Smith on Armistice Day, November 10, 1938.

Irving Berlin composed the song especially for Kate. When she introduced it, she said that it’s a song that will never die. She couldn’t have known how true her words would be.
