I Miss Fluffy Facebook

I never thought I’d miss reading a Facebook post about what someone ate for breakfast or that they’re going to brush their teeth.

But with so much hate and despair spewing out on Facebook and on every place an opinion or thought can be spewed, I long for a mundane post that someone just scooped the poop for their pup.

I miss fluffy posts about kittens.

Society seems intent on ripping itself apart with venomous, hate-filled words and accusations slung far and wide.

Many are ready to declare all hope is gone.

Hate and despair are infecting America like a life-stealing cancer, spreading from coast to coast.

I refuse to give in to that mentality. [Read more…]

“My Story” ~ What if Your Life Could Be An Awfully Big Adventure?

Read 4 epic stories and watch Big Daddy Weave sing "My Story" And then go live your story!

 An Awfully Big Adventure . . .

Wendy: So…your adventures are over.

Peter Pan: Oh, no. To live…to live would be an awfully big adventure.

~ Hook (1991)

Who doesn’t want to live an incredible story?

Authors will tell you that without conflict, you don’t have a story.

I’ve got some epic ones for you today.

If it takes conflict to make a story, I guess we’re all living a story because we all face conflict.

Some more than others.

But of course, that just means we all have the chance to live an awfully big adventure.

Faith makes the difference.

It made a life-changing difference in these lives:

Tragedy to Triumph

Ah Lord God! Nothing is Too Difficult For You

Ah Lord God!

That’s how I feel as I face the New Year.

Ah! (Insert Smiley Face)

As the sun sets on 2016 and rises on 2017, let’s look to this exciting truth for our hope and joy this year:

Ah Lord God!
Behold,
You have made
the heavens and the earth
by Your great Power
and
by Your outstretched arm!
NOTHING
is too Difficult
for You.

Pickles with a Purpose (An “Are You Kidding Me?” Story)

Pickles with a Purpose (An "Are You Kidding Me?" Story) Ten-year-old Luke houses the homeless one pickle at a time, proving you can make a difference no matter your age. via www.JeanWilund.com

Pickles with a Purpose. Are You Kidding Me?

I met the most amazing kid, and Focus on the Family let me share his “Are you kidding me?” story.

It started for me when I noticed several jars of pickles sitting on my sister Melissa’s kitchen counter. The label said, “Pickles with a Purpose.” Bahaha! How can you not love that name, right?

Then Melissa began to share the story of ten-year-old Luke Holm and his purposeful pickles.

She told me he’d befriended Tim, a man who happened to be homeless, and that wasn’t ok with Luke.

The part where his new friend lived in his car with his wife wasn’t ok with Luke.

Luke felt God wanted him to buy Tim a house. By selling pickles. And it’s working.

Which is when I uttered the phrase, “Are you kidding me?”

Featured in Clubhouse Magazine

Focus on the Family’s Clubhouse magazine features ordinary kids doing extraordinary things. Can we all agree that Luke more than qualifies?

I introduced Luke and his Pickles with a Purpose to the magazine, and they bit. They wanted to tell his story to the world. I got to write it for Clubhouse and share it with you here!

I hope Luke’s story will inspire you to make a difference right where you are — no matter your age.

Start today by sharing Luke’s story with everyone you know.

Somewhere out there is another Luke. The improbable story of Pickles with a Purpose may be the inspiration he or she needs to believe and get started.

But first, enjoy this crazy and inspiring story. Read Luke’s own words and hear his amazing heart:

Mary, Did You Know? What Was It Like to Raise the Son of God? (Pentatonix)

Watch music video of Pentatonix singing "Mary, Did You Know?" and consider what it was like to raise the son of God via www.JeanWilund.com

What was it like to raise the son of God?

Could Mary have had even a glimmer of understanding of all that being His mother would hold?

Each Christmas, I feature Pentatonix’s rendition of “Mary, Did You Know?” because it’s not only gorgeous, it’s also a fascinating question.

And thus, back by my own popular demand, here’s my Mary, Did You Know? Christmas post:

Mary, Did You Know

by Pentatonix

If this doesn’t start the Christmas season out right, I give up.

Pentatonix’s
“Mary, Did You Know?”
is, hands down
,
the best version ever.

(It’s so good, it demanded I use a bigger font to express its greatness.)

I wouldn’t have imagined a comedian could write such a powerful song, but comedian Mark Lowry did it.

Mark wrote Mary, Did You Know? while imagining what questions he’d ask Mary if he were sitting down with her over a cup of coffee.

Until the first time I heard this song, I’d never thought to wonder what it was like to raise the Son of God.

I don’t know why it hadn’t occurred to me to wonder before. It’s a pretty obvious question.

I didn’t wonder before, but now I’m mesmerized by the thought.  [Read more…]

31 Keys to Living 31 Years Happily Married to the Same Person (No One Does I Do Like We Do)

31 Keys to Living 31 Years Happily Married to the Same Person (& Harry Connick Jr.'s Song No One Does I Do Like We Do) via www.JeanWilund.com

Happy 31st Anniversary, Larry!

I echo Harry Conick, Jr.’s song: No one does I do like we do.

A lot of them mean it when they say it, but they don’t do I do like we do or they’d still be doing I do, too.

In honor of our 31 years together, here are 31 keys to how we’ve done I do so well and kept ourselves from saying, Never mind, I don’t anymore. [Read more…]

Silent Night Ye Merry Gentlemen – Let the Christmas Season Begin

Two Great Christmas Songs by Mannheim Steamroller: Silent Night & God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen via www.JeanWilund.comIt’s beginning to look and sound like Christmas.

Friday we put up our Christmas tree, and last night Larry and I went to hear Mannheim Steamroller’s Christmas tour.

Amazing.

By the way, Tom Sharpe, their drummer, stole the show. Brilliant musician and showman. He’s worth a Google.

It’s hard to pick a favorite song of theirs to share with you, so I didn’t.

I’m kicking off the season big by picking two songs. Crazy, right?

Enjoy Mannheim Steamrollers arrangements of  Silent Night and God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen.

And be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post on-line to learn of a fascinating story about the carol Silent Night. [Read more…]

Magnify the Name of the Lord to Minimize Your Stress

Magnify the Name of the Lord to Minimize Your Stress and watch Music Video Magnify by Messenger via www.JeanWilund.comOh the Stress!

Every fall I find myself stressed out, and I’ve battled it for too embarrassingly long. I suffer from Competition Stress Anxiety.

I just made that term up, but it sounds about right.

If you’re not into sports, this post is still for you because we all have something in life that stresses us out.

It might be of minor importance like mine, as in the I Just Moved to a New Place and Have to Make New Friends Stress Anxiety or the I Have Too Many Things to Do and No Matter What I Do the List Only Gets Longer Stress Anxiety.

Or it might be quite serious like My Medical Bills are Piling Up With No End in Sight Stress Anxiety or worse I Just Lost My Child And Don’t Think I’ll Ever Be Happy Again Stress Anxiety.

Insert whatever your stressor is into the blank:  ________ Stress Anxiety.

God is Love (from The Never-Ending, Ever-Growing List of the Character Traits of God)

God is Love (From The Never-Ending, Ever-Growing List of the Character Traits of God) via www.JeanWilund.com

God is Love

God is love, but that doesn’t mean it’s all rainbows, butterflies, and cotton candy all the time.

Actually, now that I think about it, a rainbow comes after a rain, a butterfly is born out of a struggle, and cotton candy is sugar that’s been melted down and spun wildly.

So maybe God’s love is rainbows, butterflies, and cotton candy — worth every storm, struggle, or meltdown we experience. [Read more…]
